Hiking: Lorraine Lee Hidden Canyon Trail

A scenic view along the Lorraine Lee Hidden Canyon Trail

Looking for a fun hike, but don’t have much time and not interested in an “excursion?” Well as most of us know, hiking around Tucson can be beautiful but it is also often strenuous and time-consuming thanks to our desert terrain and steep mountainside trails. The Lorraine Lee Hidden Canyon Trail offers a nice alternative – a quick 2-mile hike engaging enough to be fun, but not terribly difficult and just outside of town for easy access. At about 2 miles total, this hike is suitable for most people, the elevation gain is not significant, but there is some climbing and descending and the views are great – what more could you want?

The trailhead is located directly across the street from the main entrance to the JW Marriot Starr Pass Resort. To get there, find your way to St. Mary’s and I-10. Take St. Mary’s West and it will turn into Anklam Road. Stay on Anklam, take a left turn into Starr Pass at Player’s Club Drive, follow that until it T’s at Starr Pass Boulevard and take a right. Follow Starr Pass Boulevard until you see the resort and park on the street in front of the resort (the spaces are well marked, and be careful since some spaces are reserved for shuttles and other uses).

Check out this quick overview video we made, and some pictures we took along the way!
